New friends, new beginnings

News out of the bag. Hong Kong it is!

Apart from my original plan of setting residence in Australia, there were only two other places I wanted to experience living in. One being New York and the other Hong Kong.

I would never have dared dream of this opportunity immediately after graduating, so I'm pretty stoked, so stoked I can do ten jumps off the plane. lol. I just hope I would transition well into this new phase and that Hong Kong doesn't disappoint.

I feel like I'm back in school again. So much to read up on before I commence work. : S

My assigned compulsory readings include (but definitely not limited to):
1. The World is Flat
2. The Trillion Dollar Enterprise
3. The Centerless Corporation

Interesting to note how I'd never really bothered with readings in uni, but now that my ass is on the line, I'd better get down to it. Boo hoo. I guess there is a difference between paying to read and being paid to read. But boo hoo all the same.

I finally made it to Joseph Alexander's after years of driving past and wondering what beauty lies within the heritage-listed building. What intrigued me was the Piano Bar concept which I was told upon arrival at the restaurant was the only other one in Brisbane.

For its slightly upper pricing category, the main meals were rather average, nothing pow-wow. I was disappointed with my serve of Amelia Rose lamb rack, and this sentiment was echoed by Debs and Bic with their serving of the Golden Rump and Barramundi Fillet respectively.

However the service was top-notch, pleasant servers and the manager made it a point to treat us like valued customers. We were upfront with our criticisms but he succeeded in persuading us to extend our appetite for desserts. And desserts proved to be deliciously worthy.

Amidst warm rustic cosy settings, our table overlooked the river precint bordered by Coronation Drive and on the other end, the city lights danced. The very talented pianist, Steve Michael, accompanied us throughout dinner and his delivery of songs makes you wish you're curling up with your other half. All in all, I would rate the experience 7.5/10. In my belief of rewarding great service, I woudn't mind returning or recommending it to friends.

I'm now working on a list of restaurants to patronise in my last four weeks here. E'cco Bistro is a definite next. And I would like to say a proper goodbye to Cha Cha Char too with its fantastic crew led by John.

You just have to keep swimming

Most of you would know by now a job offer's on the table.

At first, I was burdened by the decision I have to make. For whatever the worth anyone wants to assume out of it, this decision is the life-changing one, the culmination of my 24 years of life that may significantly shape the years to come.

At first I harboured fears and even up to now I still have them - fears for the unstability, the unknown, the thought of swimming in the deepest end of the pool not knowing the real depth of it. If I could see the depth, I may have a fright and waver in my youthful courage.

Will I drown? I'm not sure. But at the very least, I know I'm a good swimmer.

So it's almost time to announce my next destination after living in Australia for 3.5 years. Stay tuned for the update (I'm as clueless as you are. All I know, my flight's not home-bound).

Wish me luck, give me guts.

For better or worse.

GHD is fabulous! Am flirting with the idea of splurging 300 bucks for one little fun item.

Was joking with my stylist on how state of hair is sole point of stability in life at the moment. Everything and anything else is just riding on wild waves, one moment up, another moment down. All I know is that a watershed moment will come into definition soon. And no matter how unexpected things may turn out, I will see it with a spark of optimism. I just have to pray and be assured that God will lead me to the best option and give me courage to walk that path.
